Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
At ALKU, we are committed to honoring, understanding, and fostering a culture where we celebrate the individuality of each person who walks through our doors. By creating a safe and inclusive space, we value our differences and consistently advocate for one another. Above all, the ALKrew is the heart of ALKU.
Our Stance
The space we uphold at ALKU is one of acceptance – a space where we celebrate our differences, advocate for one another and embrace our individuality because the ALKrew is the heart of ALKU. We strive to make a positive impact at work, so we can make the world a better place. Within these four walls, we work together every day for complete and total equity. ALKU is committed to creating a safe space where we are not only the best businesspeople we can be but the best people we can be.
Our DE&I Team
Committed to Change
ALKU’s DE&I Team is made up of four smaller teams: Demographic Reporting, Communication, Attraction and Recruitment, and Internal Engagement. Each team consists of ALKU employees, from desk-level to executive, whose roles and responsibilities directly correlate with our mission to keep ALKU a great place to work for all kinds of individuals. These groups meet biweekly and are dedicated to ensuring that all aspects of ALKU’s business and culture are as diverse and inclusive as possible.
Demographic Reporting
To accurately track the demographic breakdown of the entire ALKU employee lifecycle – from application to active employee and utilize the data collection to implement initiatives to increase diversity at ALKU.
Communication
To ensure that all internal and external content published by ALKU includes diverse, equitable, and inclusive language.
Attraction & Recruitment
To build a more diverse candidate pool of inbound applicants through ALKU’s outreach and partnership with universities.
Internal Engagement
To Keep ALKU’s internal employees engaged with and educated on our DE&I initiatives.
Employee Resource Groups
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) have been created through our DE&I Council. ERGs are created and run by our ALKU employees to support the needs of the ALKrew.
ALKU Women Empowered. A women’s group determined to provide resources to the women of ALKU and give them the support they need to continue to develop within the organization.
For ALKU’s LGBTQIA2S+ employees to share experiences, provide fellowship and support, enhance career and personal development, and contribute to ALKU’s vision and values. This group is a safe space to meet and discuss life both inside and outside of ALKU.
For employees of color at ALKU to share experiences, provide fellowship and support, enhance career and personal development, and contribute to ALKU’s vision and values
For ALKU parents, expecting parents, or people who want to know what it’s like to be an ALKU parent.
To open the conversation around mental health and wellness in hopes of fostering supportive connection and eliminating any potential stigma in the workplace.
For Jewish employees at ALKU to feel welcome and know that anyone regardless of what their background is, is part of the ALKU community. Our primary objectives are to create a safe space to talk about life as a Jew in the world today, as well as share our culture and food with other employees that are interested in what it means to be Jewish.
To open conversation around disabilities and better educate those with disabilities on daily living skills, treatment options, pain management, and overall health and wellness. The goal is for ALKU employees to discover different ways to rise above the stigma and continue to learn different ways of recovery, management, and overall wellbeing while living with a disability.
The purpose of the ALKU Veterans ERG is to offer a sense of community between veterans and their non-veteran peers, and to help spread awareness of the problems that veterans face daily.
FAST is a safe place where employees can come together to share their experiences of alcoholism without judgment. This group aims to eradicate stigma by sharing feelings and frustrations with others who understand the struggles of having a loved one dealing with alcoholism.
HEAL is a support system for individuals who have been through the significant loss of a loved one. This group is a safe space for all to share these personal experiences while coming together through the phases of grief and healing, ensuring that all ALKU employees feel as supported as they can while navigating these tragic losses.
DREAM serves as a multi-cultural safe space for individuals who are immigrants or have first-generation immigrant parents or guardians. In this group, all ethnicities, races, and nationalities are encouraged to raise awareness of the immigrant experience by sharing and learning about upbringings, struggles, and citizenship processes while providing support and resources.
Equity in our Communities
Mentorship is integral to ALKU’s company culture, both internally and externally and proudly partner with Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) as well as BEST Kids, Inc. Although mentoring is our focus, the ALKrew gives back to local communities in many different ways.
