December marks the one-year anniversary of ALKU moving into our incredible new Andover Headquarters! It’s been a year filled with record-breaking success, community celebrations, and plenty of valuable lessons. Let’s take a look at our top ten moments of 2024!
1. 2024 Kick-Off: New Year, New Space, Same ALKrew Energy
What better way to kick off 2024 than with our first company-wide meeting in our brand-new HQ! The ALKrew came together to start the year off right with high energy, big goals, and a powerful new theme: OWN IT. From setting business objectives, to rallying the team for what’s ahead, this event had everything we needed to launch 2024 in true ALKU style.
2. Boston Marathon Relay: Running for a Cause
ALKU took on the 2024 Boston Marathon with not one, not two, but three incredible employees hitting the pavement for Mass Mentoring Partnership! To cheer them on, we hosted our very own relay race right outside at our HQ, with each runner captaining a team and the whole Andover office out to watch and cheer. The energy was high, the competition fierce, and, best of all, we raised over $6,000 for our runners’ fundraising pages!
3. Pride ERG Bake Sale: Unity in Diversity
In June, the ALKrew put on their aprons and got baking for a cause close to our hearts! To celebrate Pride Month, ALKU’s Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG) hosted a treat-filled bake sale with all proceeds going to the Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth (BAGLY). This youth-led group fights for social justice, supports LGBTQ+ youth, and advocates for inclusive programs across Massachusetts. With cupcakes, cookies, and lots of pride, the ALKrew raised nearly $2,500 to support LGBTQ+ youth! Here’s to diversity, inclusion, and making a difference—one sweet treat at a time!
4. National Intern Day: Cheers to Our Future Leaders
July was all about recognizing one of ALKU’s favorite traditions—National Intern Day! This special occasion is dedicated to celebrating the hard work and incredible contributions of our amazing ALKU Interns who bring fresh ideas and energy to our team. The day was a whirlwind of fun, featuring activities like ALKU trivia, where laughter and friendly competition were in full swing. To top it all off, our very own President, Andrew Bull—who just so happens to be ALKU’s first intern—shared a heartfelt message, expressing his gratitude for everything our Interns bring to the table. It was a day filled with smiles, laughter, and a whole lot of appreciation for the future leaders of ALKU!
5. AWE Conference: Empowering Women, Inspiring Change
This year, we dusted off a fan-favorite tradition and brought back the AWE Conference! Our ALKU Women Empowered (AWE) ERG is all about uplifting ALKU’s incredible women and giving them the resources they need to thrive within the company. Women from all ALKU offices gathered to connect, share stories, and soak up wisdom from some truly phenomenal speakers across various industries. It was a day filled with uplifting conversations, stories, and a whole lot of celebrating the power of womanhood!
6. ALKU Idol: Battle of the Account Managers
Back by popular demand, ALKU Idol hit the stage for its second season! Our own twist on American Idol, this competition had Account Managers battling it out to perfect their client presentation skills, all while facing a panel of ALKU’s legendary judges. In August, the grand finale was broadcast live from Andover HQ to every ALKU office, where we crowned our second-ever ALKU Idol! This event isn’t just fun and interactive—it’s become an essential way for our newer employees to grow, train, and learn within their roles.
7. 2024 Annual Meeting: A Year to Remember
September was a month of excitement as we gathered for our biggest ALKU event of the year: our 2024 Annual Meeting! This is the one time when all ALKU employees come together to reflect on our amazing accomplishments and celebrate the incredible engagement and dedication of our team. This year, we had the privilege of celebrating in our stunning new Andover HQ – the first time every single ALKU employee would be gathered in the new space. After diving into our year’s highlights, we kicked back and enjoyed a company-wide Happy Hour at Cisco Brewers Seaport. With laughter, great drinks, and even better company, it was the perfect way to toast to our successes and the incredible community we’ve built together!
8. Futures Conference: Equipping Our Growing Leaders
This year, ALKU’s Futures Program took it to the next level with its first-ever, in-person conference! Designed by our leaders for future leaders, the Futures Program equips our up-and-coming managers with the training and development needed to lead our growing teams effectively. For the first time, every Futures Program member gathered for a full day of learning, growth, and celebration right here in the office. The day started with shout-outs, celebrating each other’s wins, and sharing some hard-earned lessons from the year. After soaking up knowledge from one another, the team took the celebration to Boston, where they enjoyed a dinner full of laughs, followed by an improv class to keep the fun rolling. It’s safe to say this new tradition is here to stay— and can’t wait to see where we take it next year!
9. Employee Appreciation Week: A New ALKU Tradition!
This year, ALKU kicked off something extra special—our first-ever Employee Appreciation Week! ALKU is nothing without the incredible individuals that annually earn us a spot in Fortune’s Great Place to Work Program, and this week was all about showing our gratitude for everything they do. Each day brought surprise treats and perks to every ALKU office, from coffee carts and chair massages, to ALKU swag and so much more! It was a week committed to celebrating the dedication, energy, and hard work that the ALKrew brings every day. Here’s to our amazing team—because if anyone deserves a week of fun and appreciation, it’s the ALKrew!
10. End of Year Awards: A Recognition of Success
Finally, while it hasn’t taken place just yet, this year’s End of Year Awards is shaping up to be one for the books! We’re marking a full-circle moment, celebrating exactly one year to the date since we moved into our awesome new HQ. During this annual bash, ALKU employees come together to toast to our accomplishments and recognize those who’ve truly shone bright over the past year. As the evening unfolds, our ALKU Executives will take the stage to announce the winners of the coveted ALKU awards—honoring those standout employees who’ve truly gone above and beyond this year. With excitement in the air and surprises around every corner, we can’t wait to see who will take home our 2024 titles!
