As the summer comes to an end, ALKU is wrapping up our largest Intern class to date! With 250+ Interns joining us this summer, the season was filled with lots of learning opportunities, new connections, and celebrations for success all around.
Day in the Life as an ALKU Intern
At ALKU, mentorship is a cornerstone of our internship experience. From day one, each ALKU Intern is paired with a mentor who guides them through both their personal and professional development. Our Mentorship Program includes weekly one-on-one meetings, ensuring that all Interns receive tailored support from someone who’s been in their shoes to help them succeed to new heights.
But it’s not all about work—our Interns are fully immersed in ALKU’s energetic culture and community. When they’re not working hard at their desks, you can find them playing ping pong or air hockey with coworkers, sitting in on our employee-led Employee Resource Group meetings, and participating in ALKU traditions like Bagel Thursdays and company-wide contests. By using actual real-life scenarios and roleplays as training tools, Interns get first-hand experience on what it’s like to do the job, seamlessly integrating into our full-time community and making the most of every opportunity to connect with those around them.
Intern Appreciation
On July 25th, we celebrated one of ALKU’s favorite traditions—National Intern Day! This special day is dedicated to showing our deep appreciation for the hard work and contributions of our incredible Interns. While we’re always grateful for their efforts, Intern Day is all about going the extra mile to reward them for everything they’ve accomplished during their time with us.
The day was packed with fun activities, including a round of ALKU trivia and exciting grand prizes like Apple AirPods Max headphones, Yeti cooler backpacks, and JBL speakers. They were also honored to hear from President Andrew Bull, ALKU’s very first Intern, who shared a heartfelt message expressing his gratitude and appreciation for all our Interns do.
As the summer drew to a close, we wrapped up with our ALKU Intern and Mentor Awards, a moment to honor the exceptional efforts of those who stood out this season. To our Interns: the success you’ve achieved this summer is just the start of what promises to be an incredible journey. We can’t wait to see where your talents and dedication will take you next!
Interns Making a Difference
With our Internship Program being a key pillar of our growth, our Interns’ contributions are far from overlooked. Senior Director, Training Centers, Andrew Regan emphasizes ALKU’s commitment to fostering Intern development: “Since launching our Internship Program, we’ve prioritized helping Interns learn, grow, and thrive within the business. Not only does this program pave the way for Interns to become full-time employees, but it also drives new and organic business growth for us as a company.” Regan adds, “We want our Interns to experience the staffing industry firsthand and recognize the rewarding and successful careers they can build here.”
With our Interns doing the same work as our full-time employees, they contribute the same amount of productivity and growth to our company’s success. Over the last three months, ALKU’s Sales Interns were responsible for conducting nearly 11,000 phone interviews and closing over 10 deals, a direct result of their persistence and dedication. Looking ahead to 2025, we are proud to share that 85% of the employees slated to start with us are coming from past ALKU Internships, showcasing the true impact the internship experience has on our growing population.
